Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Tyler Nam (“we”, “us”) for using SurfPopup (“the app”). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. The short version: train sensibly, treat the coaching as guidance, and Apple handles subscriptions.

Your license

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use SurfPopup on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where these terms are stricter, these terms control.

Train at your own risk

SurfPopup analyzes your movement and suggests exercises. It is not medical advice, physical-therapy advice, or professional coaching, and it doesn't know your health history. Surfing and dry-land training involve real physical risk.

Check with a doctor before starting a new training program if you have any doubt about your health.
Stop if something hurts. Soreness is training; pain is a signal.
You are responsible for your own safety, your training space, and the decisions you make from the app's feedback.

Coaching is automated — and imperfect

Scores, phase breakdowns, and coach answers are produced by automated analysis of your video. Camera angle, lighting, and framing all affect accuracy, and the analysis can simply be wrong. The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, and we don't promise any particular surfing outcome. To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

SurfPopup Pro subscription

SurfPopup is free to download. SurfPopup Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the full drill library and unlimited coaching.
Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Manage or cancel any time in your Apple account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policy — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Promo codes, where offered, unlock Pro on one device, aren't transferable, and may expire.

Your content

Your videos, scores, and profile are yours. They stay on your device and, if you enable backup, in your own private iCloud — see the Privacy Policy. We claim no rights over your footage.

Fair use of the app

Don't reverse-engineer the app except where the law expressly permits it, resell it, or use it to build a competing dataset or service. Don't film people without their consent.

Changes

If we materially change these terms, we'll update this page and note the change in the App Store release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
